What to do if referee forgets his yellow cards
Table of Contents
Premier League referee Peter Walton was left red faced on Wednesday night when he was forced to brandish an imaginary yellow card after leaving the real one in the dressing room.
The 51-year-old official realized his blunder in the 42nd minute of a Premier League match between Everton and Birmingham City when he reached in his pocket to book Jordon Mutch for a foul on Louis Saha.
And after a couple of seconds of fumbling he obviously decided the best thing to do would be carry on and hope no-one would notice.
So he held up his hand over the Birmingham midfielder like he was actually displaying a card that really exists and moved on.
Walton found his cards at half-time and booked three more players in the second half of the 1-1 draw.
So while we give him a 0/10 for preparation, you have to give Walton at least a nine for improvisation.
