Per Mertesacker interested in Premier League move

Werder Bremen defender Per Mertesacker would be keen on a move to the Premier League, but will put talks of his future on hold until the end of the season.
The centre-back has received a lot of criticism for his role in Bremen's demise with numerous uncharacteristic mistakes costing his team points, yet he remains key to Germany's Euro 2012 qualifying campaign and has been linked with a move to Arsenal or Liverpool.
Mertesacker's current contract expires in 2012 and relegation-threatened Bremen may opt to cash in on him at the end of the season.
However, the 26-year-old insists that although he would like a move to the Premier League should the opportunity arise, his mind is currently only focused on saving Bremen from the drop this year.
Mertesacker told Die Welt newspaper: "England has been an issue for a few years now, but I cannot make a decision yet.
"Of course the Premier League is attractive, but right now there is only one issue for me and that is avoiding the drop."
