International Football Association Board have announced that snoods - the beloved neck-warmers of precious and pampered footballers - will be banned from July 1.
The fashion item has been popularized in the last two years by players such as Carlos Tévez, Samir Nasri, Marouane Chamakh and Mario Balotelli.
FIFA president Sepp Blatter said: "A snood is not part of the equipment and it can be dangerous, even like hanging somebody.
"The decision was unanimous. There was not even a discussion.
"I was a player in both winter and summer weather and I never wore a snood."
