After much recent criticism from supporters' group, Schalke 04 coach Felix Magath has opened a Facebook account to improve communications with the club's disgruntled fans.
Schalke have had a disappointing league season, and some fan groups are upset at what they perceive to be Magath's dictatorial style and his transfer policy.
"Dear fans of Schalke 04, I am delighted to be able to regularly share ideas and opinions with you," Magath wrote disarmingly on his Facebook site.
"I came to Schalke 04 because of you, the fans, I want to win the league title with you and we need you and you positive emotions."
Magath's page, started on Wednesday, has already built up 45,000 friends or contacts.
In less than two days, Magath said there had been almost 25,000 hits, with several hundred fans posting comments.
"I need this support but the team needs this support as well," he said in a four-minute video message.
"It is not a contradiction that I try to deal with things, where possible, without showing emotion, but that we need your emotions more than anything, yet these must be shown in the right direction.
"The support I have received in just one day is overwhelming, but we need this support also on Saturday against Hoffenheim."

Schalke have had a disappointing league season, and some fan groups are upset at what they perceive to be Magath's dictatorial style and his transfer policy.
Last weekend, he turned down the invitation to meet with a leading fans group to avoid a confrontational situation, but he has now realised that their questions must be answered and he will do so via Facebook.
