Premier League: Sunderland 2-4 Chelsea
Table of Contents
Chelsea moved one point adrift of third-place Manchester City after a thrilling 4-2 victory against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
The hosts made a dream start when Phil Bardsley fired beyond Petr Čech after four minutes, only for Frank Lampard to level from the spot on 15 minutes after Ahmed Elmohamady's clumsy barge on Ashley Cole.
A neat finish from Salomon Kalou had put Chelsea 2-1 up before Kieran Richardson restored parity with a clever free-kick under the wall which again left Čech bemused.
But Chelsea stepped up a gear in the second half with John Terry firing home a rebound on the hour and Nicolas Anelka converting the fourth late on.
