Roberto Carlos scores straight from corner

Brazilian legend Roberto Carlos showed he still has a bit of dead-ball sorcery left in him after scoring direct from a corner in Corinthians's 2-0 win over Portuguesa on Sunday.

The 37-year-old spotted Portuguesa goalkeeper Weverton standing out of position while organising his defence and the quick-thinking ex-Real Madrid full-back promptly curled the ball in off the far post from the corner flag.

"That was the first Olympic goal of my career. It took a long time coming, right," Carlos told reporters after the match.

South Americans call this kind of goal as the Olympic goal after Cesáreo Onzari scored direct from a corner kick against Olympic champions Uruguay in 1924.
