Tottenham Hotspur provisionally went fourth in the Premier League after defeating Newcastle United 2-0 at White Hart Lane.
The hosts broke the deadlock in the 57th minute when Aaron Lennon fired a low drive into the far corner after bursting into the area down the right.
But Spurs were forced to finish the match with 10 men after Younès Kaboul was sent off in the 65th minute for an attempted head-butt on Cheick Tioté.
Any hopes of a Newcastle comeback were extinguished with nine minutes left as a trademark Tottenham break resulted in Gareth Bale driving in another fabulous finish.
