Lionel Messi struck twice as Barcelona went to the top of La Liga with a 3-1 home success over third-placed Villarreal.
David Villa coolly opened the scoring in the 22nd minute but just four minutes later, Nilmar slalomed through the Barcelona defense and beat VÃctor Valdés to level the scoreline.
But Messi restored the advantage on 58 minutes with a brilliant goal before making sure of the points with a contentious second late on.
