Wayne Rooney signs five-year mega-deal

England forward Wayne Rooney agreed a new five-year deal on Friday, despite earlier announcing he would quit Manchester United.
It was revealed on Tuesday that Rooney had no intention of signing an extension to his existing deal after claiming United did not match his future ambitions.
However, in a dramatic U-turn, the 24-year-old has now committed to the Red Devils by signing a five-year contract.
His change of heart came after Old Trafford bosses made him the world's highest-paid player on a reported £250,000-a-week.
Rooney's new salary is the highest weekly wage paid by any club in the world, although Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo earn more overall through sponsorship deals.
"I had some concerns and I made that aware to (managing director) David Gill and the manager and it went on from there," Rooney told MUTV.
"It didn't really move forward in terms of contract talks, obviously over the last couple of days that's all been made public knowledge, which made it a bit more difficult, and we felt myself and the club we had to move quickly to sort it out.
"I have spoken to the manager, David Gill, the Glazers and all of them have confirmed to me that this is the right club for me to be at and the club is going to continue being successful and winning things.
"I had other things which I wanted to air as well and I was happy to move forward and sign the deal at the club."
Rooney recognises damage has been done, possibly inside the dressing room and certainly with the fans.
He added: "I am sure the fans have been upset over the past few days with everything they have heard in the media.
"But I care for this club. I want to be here and I want to continue being successful at this club.
"It might take time with some fans. But I am going to be giving 100%, the same as always, to try and build that relationship back."
