Table of Contents
Defending champions Barcelona remained a point behind bitter rivals Real Madrid at the top of the table despite crushing 10-man Sevilla 5-0 at the Camp Nou.
Lionel Messi gave Barcelona the lead after just four minutes before David Villa snapped his more than monthlong scoring drought by perfectly curling a left-foot shot inside the far post.
Sevilla were reduced to 10 men just before half-time when Abdoulaye Konko was sent off for a second bookable offense.
Daniel Alves then put the result beyond doubt with the third shortly into the second period before Messi scored a fine fourth on 64 minutes and Villa wrapped things up with a drilled finish in the final minute.
