Newly-promoted Blackpool were given a harsh Premier League reality after being crushed 6-0 by title contenders Arsenal at the Emirates.
It took the Gunners just 12 minutes to open the floodgates, with Theo Walcott rounding off a superb four-man move with a precise finish.
Blackpool saw any hope they had of giving their illustrious opponents a tough time extinguished on 32 minutes when Ian Evatt was sent off for bringing down Marouane Chamakh and Andrei Arshavin converted the resulting penalty.
Walcott bagged his second of the afternoon six minutes before the interval with a smart turn and shot inside the area and Abou Diaby volleyed in the fourth after latching onto Bacary Sagna's cross on 49 minutes.
England winger Walcott completed his hat-trick with a drilled finish in the 58th minute before Chamakh headed his first goal in English football seven minutes from time.
