Sevilla build statue in homage to Antonio Puerta

The late Sevilla player Antonio Puerta has been immortalised through a sculpture in the José Ramón Cisneros Palacios sports centre in the city.
Puerta collapsed during a match in 2007 and died four days later after a prolonged cardiac arrest. He was just 22.
The statue was unveiled four years to the night that Puerta scored against the German team Schalke 04 to take the club into the UEFA Cup final in 2006.
Puerta has also been given the posthumous Gold Medal for Sporting Excellence.

The statue was unveiled four years to the night that Puerta scored against the German team Schalke 04 to take the club into the UEFA Cup final in 2006.
Sevilla president José María del Nido, took some time off his court declarations in Málaga to attend the unveiling with the Secretary of State for Sport, Jaime Lissavetzki.
Puerta has also been given the posthumous Gold Medal for Sporting Excellence.
