Rap superstar Jay-Z has revealed that he may be interested in investing some of his estimated $500 million fortune on Premier League club Arsenal after becoming a fan five years ago.

The hip-hop mogul is a well known sport lover, boasting in Empire State of Mind that he "made the (New York) Yankee cap more famous than a Yankee can," and regularly turning up in courtside seats at local basketball teams the New York Knicks and the New Jersey Nets.

He is also a part-owner of the Nets and has been instrumental in moves to relocate the team to his home borough of Brooklyn.

Jay-Z - formerly known as Shawn Carter - told Arsenal Magazine: "I don't know a lot about the business of soccer, but in the future if the right opportunity presented itself, then who knows? I am a businessman, and I will always look at an opportunity, and if it feels right great."

The American rapper, married to fellow superstar Beyonce, insisted he fell in love with the Gunners during ex-Emirates favourite Thierry Henry's spell in North London, and has remained a fan ever since.

He added: "When Thierry Henry was at the club I saw him play and I just thought he was an amazing player.

"Ever since then I have been a big fan of the club, following you guys, and still today you play the beautiful football that Thierry did. I think he had a real long term-effect on the team."

Jay-Z's confession comes just days after fellow rapper P Diddy was linked with an unlikely takeover at struggling London club Crystal Palace, who are currently suffering financial problems.
