Liverpool continued their recent dominance over Everton with a 1-0 win in a fiery 213th Merseyside derby clash at Anfield.
The Reds had Sotirios Kyrgiakos sent off in the first half for a reckless challenge on Marouane Fellaini before Dirk Kuyt nodded home Steven Gerrard's corner in the 55th minute.
Referee Martin Atkinson dished out his second red card of the game in the dying seconds as Steven Pienaar, who had earlier been booked for a heavy challenge on Javier Mascherano, saw red for jumping into Gerrard.
