Inter Milan stretched their lead at the top of Serie A after a bad-tempered goalless draw with Sampdoria at the San Siro.
The match burst into life for all the wrong reasons on 31 minutes when Walter Samuel was shown a straight red after his flailing arm caught Nicola Pozzi in the face.
And Inter found themselves down to nine men in the 38th minute when Iván Córdoba was shown a second yellow for barging straight into Pozzi.
In the 73rd minute, Giampaolo Pazzini became the third player to be sent off when his trip on Dejan Stanković earned him his second yellow card.
