Premier League: Everton 2-1 Chelsea
Table of Contents
Chelsea remain top of the Premier League, but are now just a point adrift of second-placed Manchester United after a 2-1 defeat at Everton.
The visitors dominated the opening stages and Florent Malouda sent them into the lead when he raced onto Didier Drogba's flick-on before drilling a low shot beyond Tim Howard.
But Everton gradually came back into the match and got an equaliser they deserved as Louis Saha met a Landon Donovan corner to head home in the 33rd minute.
The Frenchman had a golden chance to put his side in front on the stroke of half-time, but he could not beat Petr Čech from the penalty spot after Donovan was brought down by Ricardo Carvalho.
Saha, though, did have the final say as he bagged his second on 75 minutes after connecting with a long ball that was misjudged by Chelsea captain John Terry.
