Premier League: Chelsea 2-4 Man City
Table of Contents
Carlos Tévez and Craig Bellamy both bagged a brace as Manchester City shocked nine-man Chelsea with a convincing 4-2 victory at Stamford Bridge.
Frank Lampard had given Chelsea a deserved lead in the 42nd minute but Tévez, back in action after returning to Argentina following the premature birth of his daughter, equalised on the stroke of half-time with a scuffed shot past Hilario.
Bellamy put City up just after the break as he used his searing pace to burst clear of John Obi Mikel before firing a slow shot past Hilario into the far corner of the net.
The crucial moment perhaps arrived in the 75th minute when last man Belletti was sent off for bringing down Gareth Barry in the box and Tévez slotted home the resulting penalty to put his side 3-1 up.
Michael Ballack was shown a second yellow card for a bad challenge on Tévez just a few minutes later and Bellamy then made the game safe with his second of the match in the 88th minute.
Lampard netted the final goal of the game from the penalty spot following a foul by Barry on Nicolas Anelka, but it couldn't prevent Chelsea losing for the first time in all competitions at Stamford Bridge since going down to Arsenal in November 2008.
