Rory Delap, eat your heart out – teacher Danny Brooks has set a new world record for the longest football throw-in, launching a ball more than half the length of a football field.
Stoke City player Delap is renowned for having one of the longest and most feared throw-ins in football. His throws often range 30–40 metres (98–130 ft) (averaging 38 m (120 ft), and can reach the speed of 60 km/h (37 mph).
He told The Sun: "I thought, I can do that. Now eat your heart out Rory Delap."
Mr Brooks had his record throw of 49.78m (163ft) - equivalent to half the length of a football pitch - confirmed and verified by Guinness World Records.
The previous record of 48.17m (158ft) was set by Michael Lochner in 1998. Previously it was held by former Tranmere Rovers defender Dave Challinor, who chucked a ball 46.34m.
The key to the amazing throw is Mr Brooks's forward flip while holding the ball, after which he launches it with both hands from behind his head - ensuring that the throw remains within the rules of the game.
The former gymnast told www.worldrecordsacademy.org: "I realised I could do a flip while holding the ball.
"I thought if I could get the angles and timing right, I could beat the world record for the Longest football throw-in."

And ironically, Mr Brooks got the idea from watching Delap cause chaos to defenders with his ability to launch a football into the penalty box from the sidelines.
