Tottenham Hotspur moved back into the top four after a 2-0 home success over London rivals West Ham.
Croatian midfielder Luka Modrić, making his first start since breaking his leg four months ago, put Spurs ahead on 11 minutes when he hammered the ball into the turf and then watched as it looped up before dropping unexpectedly into the net.
Hammers old boy Jermain Defoe made certain of the points nine minutes from time, smashing home a rebound after his initial shot proved too hot to hold for Robert Green.
