Manchester United winger Nani has put his Old Trafford future on the line as he lifted the lid on Sir Alex Ferguson's explosive man-management style.

The 22 year-old, who cost £17 million from Sporting Lisbon two years ago, has struggled to justify his price tag, scoring just 12 goals in 85 appearances.

But by taking the rare step of speaking out against Ferguson, Nani risks a similar fate to the likes of Jaap Stam and Roy Keane, who were both quickly ushered out of Old Trafford following outspoken comments.

In an interview with Portuguese newspaper I, Nani said: "Ferguson is a very complicated man.

"He's tough. If things are all right, then they are all right. But when he thinks something is wrong, everything is screwed.

"He can go from complimenting you to just plain trashing you in a matter of minutes. Has it happened to me? Hell, yes! He'll say 'Nani, how could you miss this or this'?

"He shouts at players in front of everyone. No one escapes, everybody is the same. Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville suffer most, because they have more experience. It is 'F**k' here and 'F**k' there."

Nani also admitted that Fergie's selection policy has left him baffled and his confidence shot to pieces.

He added: "People expect more from me and it is not easy.

"I could be doing better, scoring more, but just think, I make a huge game today, but the next one, I'm not even sure that I will play. Such a situation breaks the confidence.

"I know it is still early and that there are lots of games to play this season. But I never got to play the big matches like Liverpool, Manchester City or Tottenham Hotspur and, if I don't get to play those matches, I get sadder by the day.

"I also played through a foot injury, so we'll see if things improve from now on."
