Carlos Tévez scored twice as Manchester City outplayed his old club West Ham 3-1 at Eastlands.

The Argentine striker opened the scoring inside five minutes as he tapped home from close range after being fed by jet-heeled winger Martin Petrov.

West Ham equalised against the run of play after 24 minutes when Carlton Cole flicked a Radoslav Kováč drive over the line from close range.

City restored their their lead in the 32nd minute when Petrov curled a free-kick past the wall and the dive of Robert Green.

And Tévez added a third on 61minutes when he was left all alone at the back post to direct his header across Green and in.
