Hannover 96 have decided to quarantine Steve Cherundolo after news that a United States teammate Landon Donovan has been diagnosed with the H1N1 virus, or swine flu.
Donovan was infected with the virus and it is not yet certain when he contracted it, so in order to protect the rest of the team, Hannover have decided this to be the best path for the American.
Cherundolo was isolated from Hannover teammates upon his return from international duty and is expected to remain under observation until next week.
"Steve is fine, he doesn't have any symptoms," Cherundolo's mother told Sign On San Diego.
"But they decided to quarantine him because he was in contact with Landon.
"They didn't want to take any chances with the season starting and having it run through the team."
