England legend advises John Terry to ponder Man City switch

England goalkeeping legend Peter Shilton has advised Chelsea captain John Terry to consider a move to Manchester City despite any deal interrupting a World Cup year.

City are not playing in Europe this season, but Shilton, who amassed 125 appearances for the Three Lions, reckons that would make no difference at all to his chances of helping his country go all the way in South Africa next summer.

He told the Daily Star: "I’m sure John Terry will be a major part of England’s chances of winning the World Cup, wherever he’s playing.

"He’ll be one of the first names on the team sheet because he’s a leader and you need people like that to win a World Cup.

"There are things that he’s going to have to adjust to in a World Cup year, but I’m sure he’d be able to do that. We’ll have to wait and see.

"He’s settled at Chelsea and if he does move to City, he has to settle in there. Of course, they’re not playing in Europe, but I can’t see it affecting him enough to worry about.

"I certainly wouldn’t tell him not to go to City."
