AC Milan and Real Madrid have both confirmed that Kaká has now officially completed his world-record £62 million transfer to the Bernabéu.
The former World Player of the Year signed a six year contract reported to be worth €9 million net per season with the Spanish giants.
"From next season Kaká will play at Real Madrid," read an official statement on the Milan website, www.acmilan.com.
"AC Milan thanked the man and the great champion Kaká for his decisive contribution to the many wins obtained in six years of Rossoneri stay.
"The technical loss, despite being serious, can be overcome. But it will be very difficult to fill the void left by the man Kaká, a great example of hard work and professionalism.
"AC Milan, interpreting the voices of the directors, players and supporters, send him the most cordial and affectionate best wishes for the future of his sporting career."
Real also confirmed the deal on their website, www.realmadrid.com: "Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite, Kaká, now plays for Real Madrid following the deal reached with AC Milan.
"The Brazilian footballer has successfully passed all medical tests. Kaká has signed a contract for the next six seasons with Real Madrid."
At a press conference in Recife, where the Brazil star is currently on international duty, Kaká revealed he has joined Los Merengues to help Milan overcome their financial difficulties.
He said: "I can officially say I'm a Real Madrid player. My professional link with AC Milan finishes now, but my sentimental link will never end.
"I wanted to stay on at Milan, but the world (financial) crisis affected a lot of clubs, especially those like Milan which are businesses.
"So then, I spoke with the Milan directors and we reached the conclusion that the best thing for everybody would be to sell."
