AC Milan kept their title hopes alive after securing a 2-0 win on their travels against Catania.
Catania went close to taking the lead in the seventh minute when a corner kick was headed back into the six-yard box by Jorge Martinez and Giuseppe Favalli's attempted clearance thumped the upright.
Filippo Inzaghi broke the deadlock in the 27th minute as he poked the ball in from 10 yards out after being put through by Kaká.
Inzaghi should have added his tally when Andrea Pirlo chipped the ball to the back post on 40 minutes, but he somehow managed to head the ball wide of the post from just four yards out.
Milan doubled their lead six minutes into the second-half when Kaká was on hand to tap the ball in when David Beckham's header was parried by Tomáš Košický.
The Brazilian nearly added a third, but instead watched his shot rebound off the post with Košický beaten.

Juventus' woes increased after being held 2-2 at home by second-bottom Lecce.
The visiting side took a surprise lead after 11 minutes when Axel Konan stuck away Guillermo Glacomazzi's through-ball past the onrushing Gianluigi Buffon.
Juve were back on level terms nine minutes into the second-half as Pavel Nedvěd fired home from the edge of the area.
Nedvěd added his second of the afternoon midway through the half when he controlled Marco Marchionni's long pass and then fired past Francesco Benussi.
However, there was one last twist as substitute José Castillo headed in a late equaliser to nick a point for Lecce.
