Serie A round-up: Juve hold Milan as Inter forced to wait for Scudetto
Table of Contents
AC Milan failed to cut the gap between themselves and leaders Inter Milan as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Juventus at the San Siro.
Veteran striker Filippo Inzaghi should have put the Rossoneri ahead early in the second half when he nodded a David Beckham corner wide from six yards.
Milan broke the deadlock in the 57th minute with a classic counter-attack. Vincenzo Iaquinta's free kick in the final third was charged down and a counter was sparked sending Inzaghi clear from his own half. He cut back for Massimo Ambrosini, whose sliced shot landed right in front of Clarence Seedorf who could not miss from just a few yards out.
But three minutes later Iaquinta grabbed the equaliser with a diving header at the back post from Mauro Camoranesi's sweeping cross.
Milan ended the match with 10 men as Giuseppe Favalli was shown a second yellow card five minutes from time.

Inter Milan will have to wait at least another week to seal a fourth consecutive Scudetto after being held to a 2-2 draw at Chievo.
It took less than three minutes on the clock for Inter to break through. Stefano Sorrentino only parried Esteban Cambiasso's drive into the path of Hernán Crespo, who was quick to pounce and place the rebound into the back of the net.
Chievo equalised in the 27th minute when Michele Marcolini unleashed an unstoppable left-footed screamer from outside the box that ricocheted in off the inside of the post, leaving Júlio César rooted to the spot.
Mario Balotelli restored Inter's lead midway through the second half as he smashed a magnificent right-foot half-volley into the near top corner to earn the applause even of the home fans.
But the game was not over and Chievo responded once again. Luciano took advantage of a defensive error, as he was left unmarked at the back post for a low volley on Andrea Mantovani's cross.
