Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola hailed his team's achievement this season in winning the treble as the greatest of all.

The Catalans defeated Manchester United 2-0 in Rome last night to complete a sweep of titles for Guardiola in his first season, after wins in the La Liga and Copa del Rey.

In the process, the 38-year-old Guardiola became the youngest-ever Champions League-winning coach and one of a rare breed to lift the trophy as both player and coach.

"Both are special," Guardiola told Sky Sports.

"As a player I was young and it was first Champions League for the club, for now to get the treble (as coach) is marvellous.

"We're not the best team in history but we have played the best season in history. To win three titles and how we did it.

He added: "Now is the time for rest, after this season we will prepare - this has never happened, one team has never reclaimed it as it is so difficult and everyone wants to beat us - that is the point.

"We now have to be humble and that is the key."
