Manchester United staged a sensational second-half fightback to overturn a two goal deficit and win 5-2 over Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.

The visitors opened the scoring after 29 minutes when Rio Ferdinand failed to deal with Vedran Ćorluka's cross and Darren Bent lashed home from six yards.

Worse was to follow for United three minutes later as Aaron Lennon swung in a cross to the far post, where Luka Modrić was free to chest the ball down before stabbing home from close range.

But the game swung on 57 minutes when Heurelho Gomes was adjudged to have brought down Michael Carrick by referee Howard Webb. Amid the pandemonium that followed the penalty decison, Cristiano Ronaldo kept his head to score from the spot.

Wayne Rooney leveled in the 67th minute with a low shot at Gomes' near post before Ronaldo completed the comeback a minute later with a close-range diving header.

United were not finished as Rooney grabbed his second of the match on 71 minutes. Jonathan Woodgate unable to keep Rooney's effort out as he slid across the line trying to block a shot that would have gone in anyway.

Dimitar Berbatov sealed the amazing turnaround against his former club 11 minutes from time when he bundled the ball over the line after Gomes had stopped his initial header and then got in a tangle with Jermaine Jenas.

Liverpool kept their title dreams alive with a 3-1 win away at Hull.

The Reds went ahead in the last minute of the first half, although the home side were far from happy when referee Martin Atkinson gave a debateable free-kick on the edge of the Hull box.

Xabi Alonso fired the resulting free-kick into the wall but the rebound fell kindly and the Spaniard rifled home from 25 yards

Hull's hopes of staging a second half fight-back were seemingly extinguished when Caleb Folan saw red for lashing out at Martin Škrtel just before the hour-mark.

It did not take long for Liverpool to make their numerical advantage count as Dirk Kuyt turned in a Škrtel miscue from close range on 63 minutes.

Hull battled hard and pulled one back in the 72nd minute when Daniel Cousin's low cross was finished well by an unmarked Geovanni.

But Kuyt sealed the win in the closing minutes from close range after Álvaro Arbeloa’s deflected shot was pushed out by Boaz Myhill.

Salomon Kalou 55

Salomon Kalou grabbed the lone goal in Chelsea's 1-0 win at West Ham to keep the pressure on Liverpool and Manchester United.

Chelsea dominated much of the possession but almost fell behind just before the break. Matthew Upson rose to meet Mark Noble's corner and John Obi Mikel was on hand to clear off the line when Diego Tristán prodded the ball towards goal with Petr Čech out of position.

Despite the scare though, the visitors were ahead 10 minutes after the restart. Frank Lampard wriggled free in the box before cutting back a left-foot cross to the far post, where Kalou took one touch before planting his finish into an empty net.

The Blues were unlucky not to extend the lead when substitute Ashley Cole rattled the crossbar after exchanging passes with Florent Malouda.

But the visitors had Čech to thank for preserving the advantage when Kalou gave away a penalty by dragging down Hérita Ilunga 20 minutes time.

Noble stepped up confidently from 12 yards but saw his spot-kick brilliantly repelled by Čech, who guessed the right way to save his side.
