Juventus fought back from a goal down to crush Bologna 4-1 at Stadio Olimpico.
Bologna took a surprise lead on 24 minutes when Massimo Mutarelli slotted home past Gianluigi Buffon after being found by an intelligent reverse ball from Marco Di Vaio.
However, Claudio Ranieri's side came out all guns blazing after the interval and within three minutes they had equalised, as Sebastian Giovinco's corner found a brilliant Hasan Salihamidžić header at the near post that flashed beyond Francesco Antonioli.
The lively Giovinco then set up Alessandro Del Piero for a volley which forced Antonioli into a desperate point-blank reaction save.
The home side finally managed to go ahead in the 71st minute when Giovinco slid the ball past Antonioli after being fed by Vincenzo Iaquinta.
Juventus made it 3-1 four minutes later as Del Piero latched onto a Salihamidžić through ball, shuffled past Claudio Terzi and swept past Antonioli from seven yards.
Del Piero completed his brace with three minutes remaining as he beat Antonioli at the second attempt.
There was even time for Del Piero to miss his hat-trick by hitting the post before Ranieri took both Giovinco and Del Piero off to a standing ovation.
Elsewhere, four-placed Genoa boosted their hopes of playing in the Champions League next season thanks to a 1-0 win at 10-man Cagliari.
