Klinsmann plays down Man City link

Bayern Munich coach Jürgen Klinsmann has dismissed rumours linking him with the manager’s post at Manchester City.

A report in the Daily Mail alleged that Klinsmann was being lined up as a possible replacement for current boss Mark Hughes.

Hughes is under pressure as City have so far failed to live up to the raised expectations at the club after new cash-rich owners, the Abu Dhabi United Group, took control in the summer.

However, Klinsmann has shrugged off the speculation, saying he is concentrating on achieving success with the Bundesliga giants.

"I have a fascinating job here and the ambition to stand at the end of the season in the Marienplatz (where titles are celebrated in Munich)," he told the Bild newspaper.

"I tell my players like Franck Ribéry, for example, that it is flattering for the club and the player when they are linked to other clubs.

"That is the same for the coach, but it is nothing more than that."
