Manchester United pair Sir Alex Ferguson and Nemanja Vidić have been named as the Barclays Manager and Player of the Month, respectively, for their performances during January.
The Red Devils picked up maximum points from their five matches in the Premier League in the first month of 2009 without conceding a single goal, beating Chelsea, Wigan, Bolton, West Brom and Everton.
The run took the defending champions to the top of the league, and also saw them break the record for consecutive clean sheets when they secured their 11th against the Baggies at The Hawthorns.
A central figure in all those victories was Serbian centre-back Vidić, who was not only produced a string of impressive defensive displays but also contributed at the other end, scoring against both Chelsea and West Brom.
The award is Vidić's first monthly player award, but for Ferguson the accolade was his 22nd such honour.
