Christian Poulsen 90

Substitute Christian Poulsen scored a stoppage-time winner in a 2-1 victory at Catania to move Juventus into second place in Serie A behind leaders Inter Milan.

Vincenzo Iaquinta gave Juve the lead after 11 minutes as he headed home a Mauro Camoranesi free kick.

The former Udinese striker picked up his first booking for taking off his shirt in celebration and was given his marching orders just moments later after for a foul in midfield which saw him handed a second yellow.

The Bianconeri had Gianluigi Buffon to thank for remaining in the lead as the Italy number one needed to put in a stunning performance to keep the hosts at bay. Lorenzo Stovini, Takayuki Morimoto and Alessandro Potenza all had goal bound efforts stopped by the Buffon.

But Buffon was eventually beaten six minutes into the second half when Morimoto tapped home a rebound after Buffon had blocked Giuseppe Mascara's header.

The hosts should have taken the lead four minutes later but Davide Baiocco's deflected effort crashed back off the corner of the goal frame.

It looked like it was going to end all square at the Stadio Angelo Massimino, but Juve substitute Poulsen had other ideas though, as his last-gasp winner broke the home side's resolve late on.

Alberto Gilardino 89

Fiorentina similarly needed a last-minute goal by Alberto Gilardino to beat 10-man Lazio 1-0 in a highly-charged encounter.

Lazio will feel robbed at the result having caused problems for the hosts throughout.

Despite coming off a run of three consecutive losses, the visitors threatened for long periods but were thwarted by an imperious Sébastien Frey in the Viola goal.

Goran Pandev had an early chance after being found by a lovely ball from Pasquale Foggia from the left wing, but Frey was equal to the shot

Two minutes later, Foggia curled a lovely left-footed free-kick against the far post.

In the 15th minute, Pandev deflected a clearance into the path of Mauro Zárate who fired a powerful effort on goal. But again, Frey pulled off another fantastic diving save to deny the visitors.

Lazio had to played for almost 70 minutes a man down after Lorenzo De Silvestri was sent off in the 18th minute for a second yellow card in just seven minutes.

Zárate failed to score midway through the second half when he hit the post from close range much to the annoyance of Foggia in space to his left.

Gilardino finally broke the deadlock late on as he tapped in the rebound after Fernando Muslera had parried Adrian Mutu's low shot.
