Inter Milan maintained a nine-point advantage at the top of the Serie A thank to a 2-1 win at Bologna.

The visitors went ahead in the 57th minute when Esteban Cambiasso volleyed home from close range after Maicon swung over a corner and Bologna failed to clear Adriano's header.

But Bologna finally came to life to level through Manuel Angel Britos with just over 11 minutes remaining, rising above the Inter defence to head into the far corner.

José Mourinho sent Mario Balotelli on and the move paid off immediately as the youngster curled in a free-kick from close to the touchline into the penalty area and inside Francesco Antonioli's far post.

League leading scorer Marco Di Vaio came close for a last-gasp equaliser but saw his close-range header acrobatically saved by Júlio César.

Mohamed Sissoko 26

David Trezeguet 83

Juventus recorded a 2-0 victory at Palermo to stay in touch with leaders Inter Milan.

The Rosaneri made a lively start and almost snatched the lead in the opening minutes but Fabrizio Miccoli saw his shot cannoned down off the underside of the crossbar and away with Mark Bresciano missing the rebound.

Mohamed Sissoko put Juve ahead in the 26th minute when the former Liverpool midfielder burst through midfield, left Fabio Liverani in his wake, side-stepped Cesare Bovo on the edge of the area and blasted his shot past goalkeeper Marco Amelia.

The home side continued to look for an equaliser and their best chance fell to former Juve midfielder Antonio Nocerino, whose volley from a tight angle was tipped over the crossbar by Gianluigi Buffon on 64 minutes.

Juventus eventually made the result safe in the 83rd minute as David Trezeguet, who had been out for five months with a knee problem, sealed the win with his first league goal of the campaign.

Elsewhere, last season's runners-up AS Roma returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory against Siena.
