Premier League leaders Manchester United are five points clear of second-placed Liverpool, after a ninth successive League win and 14th consecutive clean sheet, thanks to a 3-0 thumping of Fulham at Old Trafford.
The champions took the lead after 12 minutes as Michael Carrick played out a corner to Paul Scholes, who launched a thunderbolt from 25 yards which Mark Schwarzer got his hands to at full stretch but could not stop spinning back across him and over the line.
United almost grabbed the second moments later as Dimitar Berbatov steered a loose ball goalwards, only for Aaron Hughes to make the goalline clearance.
Carlos Tévez had a goal ruled out for offside following Berbatov's pass, but the Bulgarian then made it 2-0 on the half-hour mark as he tapped in from close range after Schwarzer dithered when John O'Shea turned Scholes' dinked pass back across goal.
Berbatov should have increased the lead further when poking another shot wide before he had a header from Cristiano Ronaldo's free-kick ruled out for offside.
The fit-again Wayne Rooney was introduced for Berbatov on the hour mark and within minutes he had scored the third with his very first touch, slotting home at the far post from Park Ji-Sung's low cross-shot.
