Galaxy want 'real' offer for Beckham

Los Angeles Galaxy chief Tim Leiweke is annoyed by the way AC Milan have handled the situation over David Beckham's transfer saga, stating that the Italians’ first offer for the superstar was pitiful.

Beckham is currently on a short-term loan with Milan which is due to expire on March 9, and the Rossoneri are now looking to cut a deal to keep the England midfielder on a permanent basis.

Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani claimed on Thursday that positive steps had been made, but the news from the other side of the Atlantic is very different.

"Are we close to reaching an agreement with Milan? Not really," Leiweke stated in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"Milan put a ridiculous offer on the table two weeks ago and I turned it down within seconds. That amount of money wouldn't have even covered the losses in shirt sales.

"Nobody has approached us since and there are no meeting with Milan scheduled."

Reports suggest Milan have offered €2.7 million to the MLS outfit, who are reportedly holding out for at least between €10 million and €15 million.

Leiweke added: "After that ridiculous bid, we have not heard from Milan.

"They contacted other people, including the MLS commissioner and Beckham’s representatives, but they did not call us. This is a mistake because we own his contract.

"Maybe they don't understand that we have fans threatening to give up their season tickets and sponsors asking for compensation.

"If Milan really want him then why are they dragging things out? Do they think we will settle for less money? They are wrong.

"I have read that Milan director Umberto Gandini will arrive over the next few days. I have a great rapport with him, but the important thing is that they make us a real offer."
