Manchester City star Robinho has been arrested and bailed following a police investigation into an alleged sexual assault.
The Brazilian international met with police as part of a criminal investigation following a complaint made by an 18-year-old woman.
West Yorkshire Police, which wasn't identifying the player, confirmed that a man had been questioned about a "serious sexual assault" and was subsequently released on bail.
Robinho's spokesman Chris Nathaniel said in The Sun: "We can confirm that Robinho met the police today, as pre-arranged and as part of a criminal investigation.
"He strenuously denies any allegation of wrongdoing or criminality and is happy to cooperate with the police if required further."
Yesterday a witness who has given a statement to cops said the 25-year-old had left a £400 tip for staff.
The witness said: "He and some fellow City footballers were buying champagne for everyone. Robinho appeared to be having a good time."
