Leaders Barcelona smashed Deportivo La Coruña 5-0 at the Nou Camp to become the first team in La Liga history to reach 50 points by the halfway point of the season.
Barcelona, which is unbeaten since an opening day defeat, controlled the match from the start, with Thierry Henry sending a shot straight into the body of goalkeeper Daniel Aranzubia only 30 seconds after the kickoff.
Lionel Messi gave Barça the lead after 21 minutes when he charged in from the right flank past several Deportivo defenders and roll a shot across goal off the inside of the right post.
Henry headed the Catalans two up shortly afterwards following Daniel Alves' excellent inswinging cross before Samuel Eto'o added a third four minutes before half-time.
Henry struck his second of the night on 82 minutes after Aranzubia had failed to push Xavi's shot to safety.
Aranzubia was then sent off for bringing down Carles Puyol in the box and Eto'o completed the demolition by stepping up to fire home from the spot.
Elsewhere, Sevilla moved into second place after an unconvincing 1-0 win over promoted side Numancia.
