Two goals in the last 10 minutes saw Barcelona fought back to beat bottom of the table Osasuna 3-2 at the Reyno de Navarra.
Barça dominated the first 45 minutes but it took nearly until half time before Samuel Eto'o broke the deadlock. Lionel Messi sprinted forward and laid the ball off for Eto'o, who drilled a low shot from the edge of the area to give the Catalans the lead at the break.
But quick-fire double from Osasuna looked for a while like handing Barcelona a second league defeat of the season.
Firstly, Miguel Flano equalised with a looping header just after the hour before Walter Pandiani gave the home side a surprise lead 10 minutes later.
However, Pep Guardiola's men managed to steady themselves enough for Xavi to slide home an 80th-minute equaliser after some neat work down the right from Daniel Alves.
And Messi struck the winner five minutes later when lashed an unstopped left-footed drive from outside the penalty area to give his side a sixth consecutive league win and move 12 points clear of bitter rivals Real Madrid at the top of La Liga.
Real Madrid climbed back into second place in La Liga after crushing Real Mallorca 3-0 at ONO Estadi.
The visitors took the lead after just three minutes as Arjen Robben coolly slid a left-footed shot under goalkeeper Dudu Aouate.
Raúl, played his 500th La Liga match for Los Merengues, doubled the advantage in the 16th minute when he used a deft backheel touch to redirect Gonzalo Higuaín's centering pass into an empty net from two yards.
Mallorca started to pick up more possession but they were unable to create anything worthwhile as they failed to trouble Iker Casillas in Real's goal with numerous shots from distance.
And it was no surprise when Sergio Ramos completed a comfortable afternoon for the reigning champions midway through the second half. Fernando Gago lifted a ball back into the box after an attack was only half-cleared and Ramos arrived unmarked at the back post to volley a shot between the legs of Aouate.
