AC Milan ended 2008 with a 5-1 demolition over Udinese under the watchful stare of new signing David Beckham.
Beckham, who will play with Milan for two months when the Serie A season resumes in early January, saluted fans at the stadium prior to the clash.
And the presence of the superstar seemed to inspire the home side as they took only four minutes to go ahead when Alexandre Pato headed home Giuseppe Favalli's cross.
Pato then turned provider for Kaká in the 13th minute, giving his compatriot a simple tap-in from close range.
Antonio Di Natale pulled one back for the visitors, who have taken just one point from their last six matches, in the 17th minute when he placed the ball into the far corner beyond Christian Abbiati after being fed by Fabio Quagliarella.
Luca Antonini was at fault for giving the ball to Quagliarella, but he made amends within a minute as his header across goal was met by Pato who poked home his second of the night.
Clarence Seedorf ensured the home side took a three-goal cushion into the break when he was on hand to convert the rebound after Andrea Pirlo's free-kick had been tipped onto the post by Samir Handanovic.
Kaká completed the scoring in the 52nd minute to round-off the rout which lifts the Rossoneri up to third in the table.
Juventus beat Atalanta 3-1 at Atleti Azzurri d'Italia to pull within six points of Serie A leaders Inter Milan.
The visitors were gifted the opening goal on the half-hour following a costly error from Ferdinando Coppola. The home goalkeeper looked to have covered a low cross from Marco Marchionni, but somehow he missed the ball to allow Alessandro Del Piero the easiest of tap-ins.
Nicola Legrottaglie doubled the lead in the 38th minute as he headed home Del Piero's corner.
Italian veteran Christian Vieri came off the bench and pulled one back for Atalanta on 48 minutes, but Amauri sealed the victory with a header eight minutes from time.
The result means the Bianconeri will spend the winter break six points behind leaders Inter.
