Inter Milan flop Ricardo Quaresma has taken over from team-mate Adriano as the holder of the dreaded Bidone d'Oro award, which can only be described as Serie A's worst player.

It is the 6th edition of the prize which is awarded to the player who has been the biggest let-down of the season so far.

The Bidone d'Oro - which means the golden can - is a play on words with the Ballon d'Or which recognises the best player in Europe.

The award is voted for by listeners on a popular radio show called Catersport on Rai Radio 2.

Adriano won the award for the last two editions and now his Portuguese team-mate is the new holder as his form so far has not justified the €18.6 million spent on him in the summer.

Quaresma picked up more than 17.11 percent of the vote and beat former winner Christian Vieri by 10.21 percent.

Adriano was third, followed by a Rossonero trio - Ronaldo, Dida and Andriy Shevchenko, only the sixth against all predictions.

AS Roma defender Simone Loria was seventh, former Inter and Torino player Álvaro Recoba finished eighth, Juventus flop Tiago Mendes ninth and Cagliari's Joaquín Larrivey made up the top 10.
