AC Milan sign Thiago Silva

AC Milan have beaten Inter Milan and Villarreal to sign Thiago Silva from Fluminense, according to Channel4.

The Brazilian defender has reached a verbal agreement with the club and will arrive at the end of the season.

He could Milan in January but the Rossoneri cannot bring in a non-EU player as their quota is full.

The Fluminense stopper has become one of the hottest properties for 2009.

Inter have been watching the Seleção star for months and there were rumours that they had a provisional agreement to sign him.

But Milan have won the battle and the youngster has chosen the Rossoneri after recent meetings with Diavolo representatives Leonardo, Cafu and Serginho.

Reports suggest the Italians have paid Fluminense around €10 million for the stopper.

Only a few details are missing before the official announcement.
