AC Milan were missed out out on the chance to close the gap to leaders Inter Milan to one point as they were held 2-2 at struggling Torino.
Roberto Stellone gave Torino the lead in the 25th minute with a glancing header, but the visitors roared back and equalised through Alexandre Pato three minutes later.
Ronaldinho put Milan ahead with a free kick from just outside the area in the 34th minute.
But Alessandro Rosina leveled from the penalty spot in the 78th minute after Milan defender Kakha Kaladze was penalised for handball as the ball deflected off his thigh and onto his arm in the area.
"The rules say that if a ball hits the arm after a deflection from another part of the body it's not a penalty," said Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti. "Aside from the penalty call, I'm partially happy with this result."
The Rossoneri now have 27 points, three points off city rivals Inter, which defeated Juventus 1-0 on Saturday.
In the earlier match, AS Roma continued their recent improvement after a miserable start to the season with a 3-0 win at Lecce
Mirko Vučinić, who used to play for Lecce, opened the scoring after just 11 minutes before Brazilian defender Juan added a second before half-time.
Roma captain Francesco Totti sealed the much-needed victory with a delightful chip four minutes after the break.
The victory lifts Roma towards the middle of the table.
