Julio Cruz 90 |
A last-gasp winner by Julio Cruz gave Inter Milan a 1-0 home victory against Udinese, yet the three-time defending champions struggled again under new coach José Mourinho.
Inter drew 3-3 with minnows Anorthosis Famagusta in the Champions League in midweek and needed another injury-time winner to defeat Reggina 3-2 last weekend following consecutive goalless draws in Serie A.
Unhappy Inter fans began to whistle and boo as the match wore on, and Mourinho responded after Cruz's goal by holding a finger to his lips as if to say, "Be quiet."
Cruz, who replaced Ricardo Quaresma shortly after the restart, headed home a corner two minutes into added time.
Mourinho was planning to replace Quaresma with Hernán Crespo, but Crespo hurt himself while warming up and Cruz came on instead.
Inter leads the table with 24 points, one more than Napoli.
Alessandro Del Piero, who was celebrating his 34th birthday on Sunday, extended his excellent form by scoring with another free kick in a 2-0 win at Chievo Verona.
Del Piero scored both goals - one with a free kick - in a 2-0 win at Real Madrid in the Champions League in midweek.
Vincenzo Iaquinta added a second in the 53rd minute to seal Juve's fourth straight league win.
In Sunday's late kick-off, AC Milan missed the chance to reclaim top spot after being held to a 1-1 draw at Lecce.
In-form Ronaldinho put the Rossoneri ahead with 11 minutes remaining, but Andrea Esposito stunned Milan when he headed a late equaliser to earn Mario Beretta's side an unlikely point.
