Inter Milan extended their lead in Serie A with a fifth league win in a row, defeating Napoli 2-1 at San Siro.
In-form Sulley Muntari set up the opener on 16 minutes when his corner was turned in by Iván Córdoba, and the former Portsmouth midfielder doubled the lead eight minutes later.
Napoli pulled a goal back in the 36th minute through Ezequiel Lavezzi, but José Mourinho’s men held on for the points.
The victory moved Inter to 33 points, six more than Juventus and AC Milan, while Napoli is fourth with 24 points.
AC Milan are now six points adrift Inter Milan as they were beaten 3-1 at Palermo.
Fabrizio Miccoli put Palermo ahead five minutes into the second hald and Edison Cavani headed in a second nine minutes later.
Fábio Simplício added a third 10 minutes from time before Ronaldinho, who had a 27th minute penalty saved by Marco Amelia, netted a late consolation from the spot after he had been fouled by Cesare Bovo.
AS Roma's resurgence continued with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Fiorentina at Stadio Olimpico.
Francesco Totti, who has scored in Roma's last three games, was the hero as the skipper tapped home the winner just before the hour mark to secure the victory.
Totti also hit the post during the game, and striker Julio Baptista came close to doubling the score for Roma, hitting the crossbar late in the second half.
Roma now have 17 points and moved toward the middle of the standings after three straight wins.
