Henri Camara 51 |
Henri Camara stepped off the bench to score his first Premier League goal in almost two years as Wigan defeated Everton 1-0 at the JJB Stadium.
The Senegal striker came on for the start of the second half and was celebrating the winner within just six minutes.
Luis Antonio Valencia skipped past Joleon Lescott before slid a vicious low cross across the face of goal and there was Camara to poke the ball home from close range.
Tim Cahill had a golden chance to equalise in injury time, but the Aussie blazed his over the bar and victory was Wigan's.
It was only Wigan's second home league win of the season and their first since beating Manchester City 2-1 almost two months ago.
The victory lifts Steve Bruce’s team out of the relegation zone while the Toffees missed the chance to secure a place in the top six.
