Bolton moved out of the Premier League's bottom three thanks to a 2-0 home win over Manchester City.

Jamaican winger Ricardo Gardner scored one and set up another in Bolton's third league win of the campaign.

The Trotters opened the scoring in the 76th minute after Robinho carelessly conceded possession to allow Bolton to launch a counter-attack that saw Gardner score his first league goal for six years.

The victory was assured with two minutes remaining when City skipper Richard Dunne inadvertently diverted Gardner's driven cross into his own net.

That is not a new experience for Dunne as he has now put the ball into the City net six times in all.

The result gave Gary Megson's side their first home win since the opening day of the season, while City have now won just once in six league matches and remain as inconsistent as ever.
