Roman Pavlyuchenko's mother has claimed her son never wanted to leave home in the first place, according to The Daily Telegraph.
The 26-year-old joined the struggling Tottenham for a reported fee of around £14 million on August 30.
However, according to this mother, Lyubov Pavlyuchenko, the striker was not interested in moving to England.
"Roman was sold by the club," she said. "He didn't want to go to England or leave Russia. It was 100 per cent Spartak Moscow's decision to sell him."
She revealed that Roman was on the verge of signing for another Russian club, Lokomotiv Moscow, when the offer from Spurs came in.
The reports also claims that CSKA Moscow president Yevgeni Giner has called the Russian international to say he is welcome at the club should he wish to leave London.
Confident her son will be back on home soil sooner rather than later, Lyubov said: "I know for sure he's ready to return to Russia anytime."
