Barcelona prodigy Gai Assulin has been linked with a move to Premier League when the transfer window reopens in January.

The highly-rated Israeli does not yet have a professional contract with Barça and is believed to be frustrated at his progression at the Catalan club, with passport problems preventing him from following coach Pep Guardiola from the B Team into the senior side at the Nou Camp.

According to reports in Spain, a number of Premier League clubs are tracking his situation and considering a possible move.

Speculation suggests that Tottenham along with Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Portsmouth are all believed to be monitoring the situation at the Nou Camp.

Barcelona are believed to do everything that they can to keep the 17-year-old and talks over a deal are expected to take place in early 2009.

Barça have seen Cesc Fàbregas, Gerard Piqué and Fran Mérida all leave on free transfers in recent years and do not want to see another prodigy go without any compensation.

Assulin, who joined Barcelona's youth academy La Masía in 2004, is widely tipped as the next player from the academy to make the breakthrough to the senior side.

He has played once for the first team when he came on as a substitute in the semi-final of the Copa Catalunya against Girona in September 2007.

Assulin has debuted for his country by replacing Yossi Benayoun in a friendly against Chile in March 2008, breaking Ben Sahar's record for youngest national team debut.
