Premier League Preview: Blackburn v Man United

Blackburn boss Paul Ince come up against the man he once called 'Gaffer' as Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United travel to Blackburn.

Ince was once the 'Guv'nor' of a United side that won their first ever Premier League title back in 1993.

The former MK Dons manager joins the likes of Mark Hughes, Steve Bruce and Roy Keane as a former Ferguson protégé now playing his trade as a top flight manager.

The former England captain started his managerial career with League Two strugglers Macclesfield less than two years ago, steering them clear of relegation.

He then led MK Dons to the League Two title last season before replacing another Ferguson protégé, Mark Hughes, as Rovers boss this summer.

The 40-year-old is enjoying a promising start with Blackburn by sitting seventh place in the Premier League.

While Fergie's side make the short trip to Ewood Park trailing their counterpart by two points, albeit with a game in hand.

The Red Devils traditionally find life tough at Ewood Park, which they have won only one of their last eight league trips.

And more problems for Sir Alex as Paul Scholes is definitely out up to ten weeks with a knee injury, while Wayne Rooney is still a doubt following his injury in the Champions League win at Aalborg.

It means Darren Fletcher is likely to return in midfield while Gary Neville is expected to be recalled by Ferguson.

Meanwhile, there is no Danny Simpson for Blackburn due to the terms of his loan move from United, with Jason Brown looks set to continue in the Blackburn goal after Paul Robinson struggling with a calf injury.

Vince Grella, Benni McCarthy and Steven Reid are also carrying injuries and David Dunn is sidelined.
