Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has stated that Cristiano Ronaldo transfer saga is "closed" and Ron will remain at Old Trafford this season.
Fergie said on Sky Sports News: "The matter is closed now. He is a Manchester United player. He is going to be playing here next season. Believe me, it is all over."
Ronaldo's future has been the saga of the summer with the 23-year-old refusing to commit himself to his current club. He has strongly suggested on a number of occasions that the opportunity to move to Real Madrid is a dream. But Ferguson's statement crushed Ronaldo’s dream of moving to the Spanish capital.
Real president Ramón Calderón has also suggested their end of Ronaldo's pursuit for now as he revealed Dutch midfielder Rafael van der Vaart will probably be their only purchase this summer.
Ronaldo is not expected to return to action until October with an ankle injury and scheduled to arrive in Amsterdam later this week to see whether his surgery was a success.
